Meet Ileana Silva, Translator Extraordinaire

Born in Cuba and raised in Puerto Rico. I was shaped by the tropical breezes and waves that bring color and laughter to our islands, where difficulties are danced through and afternoon siestas cannot be touched by evil. A writer by vocation and heritage, in nearing my sixth decade I have come to add many titles to that description: woman, widow, daughter, sister, mother, grandma, retired advertising executive, translator and simultaneous/consecutive interpreter. My gypsy spirit has lead me to live and experience great places such as Puerto Rico, US, Dominican Republic, Panama and Mexico. This has shaped me and taught me to be a free thinker. I work hard at looking past my horizon, seeing the world through different eyes and I thank  ”El Sueño de Gina” for letting me do just that.

Biografía de Ileana Silva

Traductor

I got lucky. I met a wonderful woman who translated Gina's Dream into Spanish.

Ileana Silva, from Puerto Rico, answered my Craigslist ad for a Spanish translator and she did a fantastic job translating Gina's Dream.

El Sueño de Gina is at the publisher now. Print publication is scheduled for late 2014.

But, the best thing is that this book will be a dual book. It will have both the English and Spanish versions. When you look at the front cover, it will be the English version, then when you flip the book over, the back cover introduces the Spanish version or vice versa.

Gina's Dream Book Trailer Experiment Failed

I got kicked off YouTube because they felt a sound effect I used was a copyright infringement. I had purchased the sound effect. I thought that was the purpose of the purchase to use the sound effect. Need more research here.

Anyway, I moved over to Vimeo and created a book trailer for Gina's Dream. While it is a simple powerpoint presentation, the PP sounddtrack drops out halfway through. Nothing I did solved the problem.

While book trailers are recommended, I think I need to write a few more books before I try that again. Need something to advertise.

Plus, I need to learn the mechanics of creating a book trailer. Some authors' book trailers are mini-movie productions.

But, as with any experiment, you always learn something.

Check out Gina's Dream book trailer at the link below.
